In the old days, the fort was a citadel with a moat on three sides and a river on the fourth side.
The red fort consists of a pillared hall for the audience, the harem, the Nagina Masjid, the Mandir Raja Ratan, and a trading place. The most markable place in the fort is Mussaman Burj, the prisoner’s place. In the Mussanman Burj, King Shah Jahan was kept as a captive. The Taj is visible from this place.
